What the technique does
Highlight / Lowlight works by adding lighter and darker strands throughout the hair to create depth, movement and contrast. Placement and intensity are chosen during your consultation so pieces can read natural and blended, or bold and statement-making, depending on the look you want.
Clients value precise placement and careful toning to avoid harsh lines and to make faded transitions look intentional. Past clients report restored brightness, seamless blends over gray or grown-out color, and the ability to mix painterly balayage pieces with traditional foils for tailored dimension.
How appointments are scheduled
Booking includes a full consultation and color application. The service is scheduled for 180 minutes and starts at $220. That block covers placement, processing, toning and basic styling; exact time can vary by hair length, density and the complexity of the placement you choose.
Demand rises in late spring and early summer (May–June) for brighter highlights, and again in October for lowlight requests during the fall transition. Anchorage clients often plan around work, school and winter travel conditions, so flexible scheduling and advance booking are recommended.
Aftercare and maintenance plan
Tone, longevity and hair health are tied to the products and routine you use at home. Expect to discuss a salon-recommended maintenance plan at checkout: purple or color-preserving shampoo, periodic toning, and gentle care to protect lifted or darkened strands and keep the blend looking intentional.
Touch-up timing depends on placement, contrast and your personal schedule. Many clients coordinate toners or refreshes around their routine — healthcare workers, students and families often book appointments that fit commutes off Tudor Road or near the University, keeping winter weather and travel in mind.
